Monday, December 22nd – Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom was on the menu for the day. We started with the Kilamanjaro Safari. Our guide was hilarious and seeing wild animals in their natural habitat was amazing. It was cool to view these animals without glass being in the way.
JK and LB were quite ready to attack their first roller coaster. Expedition Everest is the newest attraction at AK. So that was the next stop for us. When we got to the entrance of the ride, we found that LB was 2” too short. Needless to say, there were some very sad tears. She’s always been our little daredevil, so I understood why she was so upset. After we calmed her down, we left her and AA with my aunt and uncle, so that Billie and I could take JK on into the line.
I honestly didn’t think that JK would ride the coaster. She’s always been our cautious one. So we got in line and told her as much as we knew about the ride so that she would be a little more prepared. She sat with Billie and I sat with a stranger! It was a really good ride! I would have enjoyed it a little more had I not been so concerned about JK. She did okay until we went backwards…that was it for her! I think she cried the rest of the time. She calmed down after we got off . We were so proud of her for doing something that she was scared of! She sure did pick a big ride to start with though!
After Everest, we headed over to get in line for “Finding Nemo: Live on Stage”. We were lucky to get in, and it was standing room only. Seriously…we were on the back wall. But we could still see okay. It was a really good performance. As only Disney can do!
After Nemo, we ate lunch with a view of Everest…it was quite breathtaking! Then we headed back into line for “The Festival of the Lion King” and actually had pretty good seats for this show. It was a theater in the round, which makes for a very cool performance! And it was amazing!
After the Lion King we saw that the line to meet Mickey wasn’t very long, and we decided to get pics and autographs. Meeting Mickey and Minnie was a must-do on our list! The girls were so excited to meet him! Even AA gave him a big hug. He was dressed in his Christmas finery and surrounded by lights and garland. After Mickey, we headed to the line to meet Minnie. This too, was a very exciting part of our day! Minnie is just too cute…and all 3 girls loved on her too. AA came out of her shell I guess!
We moved on to the Jingle Jungle Christmas Parade, which was, again, top notch. Too bad there were too many adults that wouldn’t move out of the way so that 3 little girls could see better! AA watched the parade from my shoulders, and told me what was coming so that I could take pics. JK sat on the ground and watched between the legs of all of those people taller than her. LB was having a fit, so she missed the parade! Fun times!
Dinner was at Boatwrights, at our resort. Again, another wonderful meal. We had the girls in bed early, since we had a very early morning coming!
