Kids say the darndest things!

This is one of those stories that, in my opinion, begs to be written down. Last Friday, Jill and Warren came to Macon to have an early birthday celebration at the Olive Garden with Billie and the girls and I.

After dinner, we all headed back to the mall to choose our pics (see previous post). Jill and I decided that we wanted to go look at shoes at Macy's. So on to Macy's we went...

***Let me interrupt at this point to give a little background info. About a month ago, I requested a sample of a certain feminine product. Because usually with samples comes a coupon. Since I enjoy saving money, this was a win-win for me. Continuing on...

...Sometimes if the girls' bathroom is occupied, one of them will use our bathroom. No big deal. That's what we get for having a house with 4 girls and 2 bathrooms! So in my bathroom is my little sample package. Just sitting there. Again, no big deal. After all, it IS my bathroom
.***

Here is a pic of the little box:

...Back to Macy's...

...we're walking toward the shoes, when we spot the Macy's Christmas decor section. It was called "Holiday Lane". Trees, ornaments and little boxes were set up to get you in the Christmas spirit.

We walked through the small section so that the girls could "ooh" and "ahh" over everything. (They are all about the Christmas decor, let me tell you!) Then we kept going toward our goal: shoes!

We're walking through the store, when out of nowhere, JennahKay says, "mom, is Holiday Lane where you get Mother Nature's Monthly Gift?"! (See photo above)

I about died! I was literally squatting, hanging onto AudreyAnn's stroller to keep from falling over. In the middle of Macy's. Jill started to laugh, and she didn't even really get it. She just heard the part about the monthly gift and lost it. After I explained it to her through my tears, she laughed all the more!

The thing is, she was so completely serious. That's what makes it so funny. She made a connection between the little red box in my bathroom and the little red boxes in "Holiday Lane".

Poor JennahKay had no idea why we were laughing (neither did anyone else for that matter). And I couldn't really explain it to her either...not quite ready for that talk yet! My only response was, "no, baby, that's not where I get that gift".

Ahhh...the joys of reading! And comprehension. And putting 2 and 2 together.

What a wonderful gift!

GREAT story!! Had me laughing out loud! When we were potty training Emma we told her that when she was potty trained she could go to school....that was enough reason for her and when she was finally completely trained during the day the countdown began for school. We were in Walmart and she had to go potty and she exclaimed to everyone waiting in line (we were still in the stall) that now she could start school. I figured while I was in there I might as well go to....to the tune of Emma squelling "how exciting Mommy now that you are pottry trained you can go to school too!" I could sut hear the snickers of all the ladies waiting in line! Oh the joys of children and their innocence!!!

This post should carry the disclaimer, "if you are drinking a carbonated beverage, kindly put it down and resume reading." LOL!!

Too funny! I laughed so hard I almost woke my daughter up. :o) Ah, yes, if only the monthly gift was as nice as those shiny packages in Macy's. Motherhood may not pay in dollars, but it sure does shell out in laughs.

Blessings, Whitney
