Okay, so this year, I am using Alpha Omega Science with JennahKay. It's a good, thorough curriculum, even if it is a little easy for her.
So the first Lifepac in the set is all about shapes and sizes and differentiating between objects in each group. Last week, one of the days was talking about shapes doing work. You know, you can't have a table top on a circle because it will fall off, so she had to draw a square to hold the table up. You get the point.
She turned the page and it was divided into 4 parts and labeled, circle, triangle, square, rectangle. The instructions were to draw pictures of shapes doing work (this is leading up to talking about levers and pulleys).
There are no right or wrong answers on this one really, so as I watched her get started, I began to think about what I might draw. I'm thinking of a steering wheel, tires on a car, a soccer ball...you get the drift.
So she finishes her sheet and brings it to me to look at. This is what I see in the "a circle doing work" section:
I'm stumped. Completely. Can't for the life of me figure out what this is supposed to be. So being the mom that doesn't want to squelch creativity in her child, I ask her to tell me what's going on in her drawing of the circle doing work.
She replies, in a way that says that I shouldn't even wonder what the picture is, "mom, it's you on your yoga ball"...
Of course. Why didn't I think of that.

That's our girl!!! Brilliant!!!
JennahKay.... Maw Maw loves you!
Love it. So right on...how precious daughters immitate their beloved mommies. (All but the bad that we don't WANT them immitating, that is!)
How many times did you as my child say "matter of factly" sentences to me..then w/a raised eyebrow, I thought, now whay didn't I think of that.
This made me smile even though you had called me that morning about this drawing. I loved her answer to why she could of drawn a car, thinking of a steering wheel or itres...she said "But mom, a car is a rectangle." (the rules said to use a circle) And since she is the Rules Girl...well should there be any doubt?
Joy, Momma
It's fun being a momma!
