Thanksgiving 2010

Yeah...I know I'm a bit late with this. But I figure I need to get this one done before Christmas and Disney World are upon us! This is a very photo-heavy post, so buckle up and enjoy the ride!

Our trip west to Texas started on Thursday the 18th. We loaded up and headed out around 6 that morning. The girls slept in the clothes that they were going to wear that day, so that helped a TON.

Our first state sign photo stop was Mississippi (we're going for all 50 states):
(We hit Alabama first, obviously, but the route that we were on didn't have a sign, so we got it on the way home.)

Followed by some much needed leg stretching and goofing around. Who says you can't have fun at a rest stop?!?

We piled back in the car and kept moving.

Next state sign photo stop - Louisiana:

We stayed the night in Monroe after a long day of driving. The girls were fabulous though. We have been blessed with wonderful travelers!

Day 2:
We headed out after a good breakfast. Our plan was to go to Texarkana for some fun pics at the Texas/Arkansas line. But we had to get our Arkansas state photo first!

Here are some pics from our Texarkana stop:

After our good break, we got back on the road heading for Fort Worth. It was so great to see Amy, Allen and the boys again. We had a wonderful night together and were anxiously awaiting the arrival of John and Kathy the next day.

On Sunday the 21st, we had a wonderful morning worshipping as a family at Amy and Allen's church. We left there and drove to Dallas for the girls' surprise Christmas present from MawMaw and PawPaw. To say that they were surprised doesn't quite do it justice! They were ecstatic!

On Monday the 22nd, we headed to the Great Wolfe Lodge. Amy had won a drawing at work and was so very generous to share with the entire family! We had a blast that afternoon and evening swimming, listening to story time, and the girls LOVED that they had their own "cabin" in our room! That place is amazing! It was strange packing bathing suits with our winter coats, but it was a nice break from the chilly weather!

We went back to Amy and Allen's on Tuesday afternoon and started getting ready for Thursday's meal. I think we went to WalMart about 1,000 times...

Thursday was fabulous...very relaxing and lots of good food. We decided to have Christmas while everyone was together. So much fun!

Unfortunately, the week had to come to an end. We left for home on Friday morning, as did John and Kathy. They took our Texas state photo with us, since we didn't get it on the way in. We actually had to turn around and get it as we were leaving.

We stopped for the night in Meridian, Mississippi and finally made it home on Saturday the 27th, exhausted but very full with our visit!

Our Alabama state line photo:

Didn't get our Georgia line photo yet...will hit that one on the way home from Ohio at Christmas.

If you have actually read this entire post...you deserve a gold star! Hope you've enjoyed a glimpse of our wonderful and busy week!

Sounds like fun!! We were totally at the exact same AG store exactly two weeks later! Wouldn't it have been awesome if we would have been there the same day and run into each other!! Your girls are getting so big! They look like such sweeties!
